(As a side note, I actually thought that that lyric was âfour bananas make a bunch of sodas any more,â which I thought was perhaps some non-local (to me) dialect or slang, until I looked it up to paste it in just now.)
One banana, two banana, three banana, four
Four bananas make a bunch and so do many more
Over hill and highway the banana buggies go
Coming on to bring you the Banana Splits show
One banana, two banana, three banana, four
Four bananas make a bunch and so do many more
Over hill and highway the banana buggies go
Coming on to bring you the Banana Splits show
Due to a dream, the lyrics to 1916 keep on reciting themselves in the back of my head. Listened to one version. Maybe if I listen to the other version I know of it'll stop for a while.
For about a week now, my persistent earworm has been âDer Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzenâ (âHellâs vengeance boils in my heartâ), more commonly known as âThe Queen of the Night Aria,â from Mozartâs Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute).
Not sure what gave rise to a rage ariaâand not just any rage aria, but the pinnacle of rage ariasâas an earworm.
The famous scene of the students dancing on the street outside was actually filmed to Donna Summerâs âHot Stuffâ as the song âFameâ wasnât ready.

In fairness, it is a brilliant theme tune, because it totally gets stuck in your head.
I donât mind it being an earworm.
Meanwhile, Iâll note that I was an official, card-carrying member of The Banana Splits Fan Club.
Iâve had a persistent earworm for quite a while now, triggered every time I check âRecent Discussionsâ on the Ship and see a particular thread started by @"Amanda B Reckondwyth".
It could be worse. It could be much worse.
