    Hurrah for Tiny Toby!
  • The Gp has finally engaged with the local hospice, whose representative came yesterday and was shocked we weren't getting Continuing Health Care, which we now are, with the carers paid for by them. She has also sorted out the palliative meds provision and has mentioned Carers Allowance as well. We don't know how to get people to administer the palliative care, though.
  • Well, we found that out, and she went quietly.
  • After pulling out of buying a house a few weeks ago, it is back on the market (at a lower price) and we have sold copies of our searches and the Home Buyers Report to the prospective buyers!! With a small (but nevertheless welcome) tax rebate, it's going to make Christmas a lot easier!

    Excellent, @sionisais!
  • We're just back from the American Thanksgiving with my beloved mother-in-law. Two years ago she had cancer surgery, a pacemaker installed, a hip joint repaired and surgery to help her remaining kidney keep functioning. She recently celebrated her 91st birthday and is still in her own home. She never formally invites anyone for Thanksgiving, but fifteen or so people generally show up bearing food and drink, as we all did this year. She is the object of adoring worship by her grand- and great-grandchildren. I think it all has something to do with being Danish. (She still says the Lord's Prayer in Danish, so s/he doesn't have to waste time translating it).

    That's wonderful, @Stercus Tauri!
  • The call from the coroner's office, since the surgery have at last stirred their stumps and done something about the need for D's son to have a death certificate. What the imagination conjours up when told by the surgery to ring, and they can't be got, and the person who rang is off sick has dissolved into mist. It has taken a whole week for the doctor to respond, but it is just a formality.
  • Praise and thanks for my lovely eye surgeon (I don't think I can spell ophthalmic, or not reliably!) who did the cataract and deep sclerectomy on my second eye yesterday.

I can see beautifully without glasses or lenses for the first time in about 55 years and I am beyond grateful <notworthy> <rejoicing>
  • Ooh, lovely!
  • So happy for you Mrs S.

That is wonderful @The Intrepid Mrs S . Having had both eye sorted for cataracts I am also grateful that I can see, specially as my hearing is so dire. Before that crossing roads was a scary activity. Enjoy the bright new colours!

Very grateful for loving support from my sister regarding my problems with my Mum and her husband. She’s in a difficult situation herself and is supporting Mum as she lives close by.
Oh, and PTL for a private intention, if that makes sense.
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
    Good on you, Mrs. S!
  • I rejoice with you all.

Rejoice also with me that my mum's stent procedure went smoothly despite some initial concern when the operation was aborted last week. I spoke to her briefly on my brother's mobile phone and she sounded well.

    Glad to hear it, Gamma!

    Thank you - trotters crossed!
  • Just brought Problem Cat home from his x-ray, eight weeks after he was hit by a car. When it happened, I was straight on the prayer thread here.

Well, the vet told me it's "a miracle" that they've got him to this point of healing, when he was "at death's doorstep" that morning I brought him in. I knew it was bad at the time, and yet I hadn't understood how very bad it really was.

He still has some displacement in his pelvis, but he seems basically OK and he doesn't seem to be in pain even without painkillers now.

Assuming this is his last vet bill for this condition, the total amount limbos just under the insurance maximum, and they have already reimbursed everything but today's bill which obviously hasn't been filed for yet.

    Glad to hear it, Telepath!

    Thank you for that, Telepath!

Last night Problem Cat suddenly snapped out of his anaesthesia and I didn't think I had ever seen a creature SO HAPPY - until the Telemum saw him this morning. It is as if the light of her life has been restored to her.

He ran round the Christmas tree and round the tree and round the tree and round the tree and round the tree, and now he is asleep under it, because he is a gift.
  • Brilliant news Telpath. I agree that PC needs a new moniker!

    Great news @Telepath.
Just heard from my sister in law that my brother's operation to sort out the mess from the previous operation in April went better than the surgeons hoped and they have managed to reverse his stoma as well as sort out his various other internal problems. A relief all round.

    Excellent news, Sarasa and Telecat!
  • @Telepath so pleased for PC and Telemum. Lovely image of cat under the tree because he is a gift. :-)
  • Sarasa so pleased for your brother. Telecat may start a new fashion in self-opening presents
  • RossweisseRossweisse Hell Host, 8th Day Host, Glory
Oh, wonderful news, @Telepath and @Sarasa! (May the Telecat remain on the black side of the ledger from now on.)
  • Oh @Sarasa , thank goodness!
  • Such good news Sarasa.
  • A butterfly landed on my shoulder in church this morning. It stayed there for an entire hymn. We then had a prayer and when I opened my eyes the butterfly was on my hand. I don't think I've ever had a butterfly land on me and remain on me before.

What a lovely, if unseasonable, thing! :)
