In one of the Call The Midwife episodes, someone asked where God was when a disaster happened. The senior nun responded "God is not in the event. God is in the response".
That satisfies me, but not others.
When Covid happened one of our church elders said we should pray the Covid away. I don't think it works like that, even though Luke has prayer with faith being able to move mountains - which I guess is where the idea that my father could cure himself if he had enough faith came from that members of his congregation troubled him with. Or perhaps it was the parable of the importunate widow that they were thinking of.

There's a lot in that. I think of it that way too - when a bad thing happens, it's God's hands who are the helpers, the responders, the paramedics etc.
