I had thought he'd been dead for years, and then something came up about him a year or two ago and I thought, "ooh - he's not dead yet!"
Given we were late starting the 2025 one, I've gone ahead and set up the 2026 pool, with a lot of copy & pasting. That gives shipmates just over two weeks to peruse Wikipedia or ask ChatGPT "Is this person still alive"?
For reasons I can't remember now, David and I were invited to some sort of do at Brentwood Cathedral; it's a glorious building, resembling a Roman villa.
Did anyone actually work out scores for the CDP of 2025?
Not so far. My personal score is 56 points for David Souter (15 points), Gerry Connolly (25 points), and Dick Cheney (16 points), but I don't know how anyone else did.
Altogether 144 people were nominated by 16 shipmates. Of those 144 just 11 failed to welcome in 2026. Of the 16 shipmates 6 could use their lists in full this year.
Donald Trump received the most nominations (9) followed by Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin (7 each). All three of them survived the onslaught.
The person with the most nominations (4) who actually left us was Pope Francis.
The nominee who was worth the most points was Linda Nolan (35) and the most miserly was Patricia Routledge (4)
The first nominee to push up the daisies was Linda Nolan on 15th Jan and so the Inside Track With The Grim Reaper award goes to Tree Bee.
The nominee who came closest to not imitating a Norwegian Blue was Chris Rea (Dec 22nd) and the winner of the Sudden Death award is also Tree Bee.
These two were Tree Bee's only successes so they were beaten to the Quality Not Quantity award by Sipech and Croesus who both scored three times.
Finally the star of this game with the most points was Tree Bee (61) followed by Croesus (56) and Sipech (25) took bronze position.
