TICTH Social Security and Medicare. I've been struggling to understand the whole Medicare setup, but I thought I finally had it. I went to sign up for a Part G supplement - and realized that I wasn't signed up for Medicare Part B. I have only tomorrow to get signed up, and of course it's a Saturday. I'm praying that someone has a solution, and that I can find it in time!

Well, we shall see - but I think @Lamb Chopped, blessings on her, found a solution: She found a form online, printed it out, brought it to me to sign, and sent it certified mail (so they couldn't claim it hadn't been mailed today) to the nearest Social Security office. However, I heard on NPR today that there might be an extension, because the open enrollment site was a hot mess, and lots of people had problems. All sorts of Congress folk, insurance commissioners, lawyers, and others got involved.
This story is from yesterday, and it's still playing out. But, per the article:
On Wednesday, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services told Kaiser Health News that beneficiaries would be able to change plans next year because of Plan Finder misinformation, although officials provided few details.
I heard from a pleasant woman at the local Social Security office today. She said that she had my application, but that we'd neglected to indicate the start date (oops!), so I told her my intentions. And she's sending me a form to send to my employer to indicate that I had insurance coverage through them when I became eligible; I'm to get it back to her before the end of the year. Deo gratias!
It is bad enough being ill, but having to sort through insurance as well is just so wrong.
Trying to manage all that when I was in the midst of The Chemo from Hell nine years ago was one of the worst experiences of my life. For example, I had to make three phone calls, two of them to managers, to get partial reimbursement for the wig another representative had assured me would be paid for in full. Insurance companies do not part with money without some pushback.
Stop buggering about with my beloved Spaghetti alla Carbonara. It should consist of
Pasta
Eggs
Pancetta (fry in olive oil)
Cheese
Pepper to season,and a little cheese to grate on top
and that is all: no mushrooms, no chicken, no pulled pork (yuk!) and if you put any cream in I shall invoke the spirit of Antonio Carluccio and he will roast you.
The Ark has, alas, a few very tiny pinholes in the steel deck, and heavy rain finds its way in, trickles down the wooden panelling, and lands on my Head.
No matter where I sit, or recline, or lie.
Which is vexing.
If any fine, warm, sunshiny weather ever occurs again, I'll have to employ a Cheerful Workperson to give the deck a good coating of paint. In the meantime, I have Drips.
I saw the Batavia replica in Amsterdam, shortly after she was built. The sight increased the already great respect I had (and still have) for the shipbuilding capabilities of our neighbours in The Netherlands!
In my mind's ear, I'm hearing those in the voice of Stanley Holloway or, more accurately of D. imitating him - especially The Lion and Albert, which he used to recite at church functions.

All he would do was put it inside the doorway and shove it about 18 inches in. I couldn't close the door, and it's cold! Happily, a kind neighbor was home and helpfully brought it in and even took it downstairs to the utility room where dwell the wine racks. Blessings on her.
Ah, I was wondering if you were in your chair. Still, a cane should've been enough for him to realize you probably couldn't just reach down and move the package.
This may be an outrageously stupid idea that just popped into my head, and apologies if so:
Since it's a steel deck, might it help to put magnets of some sort over the holes?

Not a silly idea at all, at all. The problem is actually locating the tiny pinholes - they are not necessarily immediately above the place where the Drips enter. Once found, the holes can be easily filled in with plastic padding, or the like, and I have managed to deal with one or two in this way.
A couple of good, thick, coats of agricultural red oxide paint (the stuff they paint barns with) should do the trick. The painting is long overdue, I admit, but I am not now physically capable of doing it myself. A few days of warm spring weather is needed!

I ride down the stairs on my chairlift, take a step to the walker parked at the foot of the stairs, and proceed - slowly and deliberately (as if I have a choice!) - to the utility/storage area and select a bottle. I place it inside the seat, retrace my steps, and ascend to the main floor. It's a Process.
DIL has been busy gardening. Trees, seedlings etc. she had a cage over chillies as we know the birds eat them. She reported yesterday that the cage had been demolished and that a bush covered with green ones, large, had been demolished by possums. They had then reacted to this and ground was covered with large lumps of crap.
Ticks. Here I only thought of them in summer. I found one on my hip, I had been carrying in fire wood. I tried to remove it and head broke off. I tried but can not get the head out. Area is sore and red but not swollen. Two days later it looks the same so I guess I am alright, but Yuck. I hate this. One site suggests going to MD, the other says as long as it does not appear to be infected body will heal itself. I am going with wait and see. Do not want to go to doctor with waiting room full of sick people.
IANAD, but ticks are a source of Lyme disease and others. It can sneak up on a person bitten by a tick, it's hard to diagnose, and the blood test for it has some accuracy problems.
I usually start with Web MD when checking on something medical. Here's their page on tick bite treatment. Section 3 is about whether and when you need to go to a doctor.
Not trying to scare you, just making sure you have adequate information. FWIW, YMMV, etc.

Thanks all I had checked Web MD, and went the rubbing alcohol route. It does not seem any worse today and maybe a bit better. I have removed the little buggers many times over the years, first time it did not go according to plan. I will keep an eye on it and look for any systems.
