Famous People, Politicians and the internet.

It used to be that a star or politician could say something, deny it and have more of a chance of getting away with it. Yes there news outlets such as TV, radio and the papers but now there is so much more. For instance Starmer said he never claimed to be friends with Corbyn. Videos of him say he was friends exploded all over social media. Some people seem not to understand social media at all. Are there any solutions they could go far?

Did someone just shove a microphone in Starmer's face and ask him if he had ever said he was friends with Corbyn, and then Starmer improvised his answer on the spot? Or was Starmer's statement part of a calculated strategy to deal with an ongoing controversy?

'Cuz, if it's the first, I'd say it's understandable that Starmer might've panicked and just said the first thing he thought of, without really considering how easy it would be to refute. If it's the second, that's less forgivable, because someone on Starmer's media team, if not Starmer himself, shoulda known how easy it would be to refute his claims of non-amity with Corbyn.

Does it matter? He should have known if he had. He was part of Corbyn’s opposition front bench. He made it seem like he wanted to follow Corbyn’s lead when he went for the leadership and he praised Corbyn whilst in opposition.
There must others who have been caught out the same in all public positions. Brittany posted a photo of her coming out of a public loo with no shoes on and replaced it with one with shoes on after it went viral.
