I was walking from the supermarket to the bus stop carrying two bags of groceries when a boy who looked about 10 came up behind me and offered to carry my bags.

I felt really touched, and thanked him for his thoughtfulness but the bus stop was only a couple of steps away so I was O.K

I realised today that it is 25 years since my parents died. They were 92 and 85.

I was offered help loading bags into the trunk of my car.

I once did laundry and forgot to put the soap in. "That's nothing," a friend said. "I did laundry and forgot to put the clothes in."

When "Famous Birthdays" are announced on TV news, I have no idea who most of those people are.

I have heard of Taylor Swift but I've never heard a note of her music -- nor do I care to.

I always thought Paris Hilton was a hotel in France's capital.

You know you're getting old when hair doesn't grow where you want it to . . . and grows where you don't want it to.
  • At a church event a few years back where the elders met the young people, one of the questions I asked was "Which music do you think you'll remember when you are my age?" One of them said Taylor Swift, of whom I had never heard. I had to ask someone else later, "Is that singer male or female?" I admit that I have heard the name several times since then, but would not be able to identify the music. I think that may have been a clear indication of the ageing process.
