Thank you, all. As a lapsed Episcopalian, I don't really have a dog in this hunt either, but I've long been a part-time employee of my local RC Diocese, and maybe that's an interest enough to start one. The Pope is a global figure. Maybe that also gives latitude, at least to open the floor.

The death of Pope Francis has driven home for me what a non-Catholic I have become in my ex-Catholic years. A day or so after his demise, I was walking by a Catholic school-board office, and initially wondered why their two flags(Canadian and Franco-Ontarian) were at half-mast.
