Yes Minister is currently available on iPlayer
  • Yes Minister is just gold! It was a family watch when my sister and I were teenagers.

The last few weeks I've been enjoying The Resident on Netflix. I do love me a hospital drama, I'm on the final season and I'm going to be sad when I get to the last episode!

I just caught up with the latest season of The Diplomat, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The presence of Alison Janney and Bradley Whitford inevitably prompts comparison with The West Wing, but I think it holds a rather pleasant middle ground between that and the brutal darkness of, say, Homeland. While the dialogue doesn't have Sorkin's ability to raise policy conversations to poetry it is, by way of compensation, blessedly free of Sorkin's inability to write a serious and competent female character.
  • I love The Diplomat!
  • Last night I watched the first two episodes of Heated Rivalry, a gay Hockey romance about two rival hockey stars who have a very different relationship in private. It's very good.
  • Been enjoying the latest (and final) season of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, the sequel to Camp Cretaceous. It's got a lot of character development and I recommend it very highly.
  • I might have to give The Diplomat a try, I'm always on the look out for new things. Currently I'm watching Emily in Paris - as usual I am late to what everyone else has already watched!

I'm also enjoying the new season of All Creatures Great and Small on Britbox. I do have a soft spot for the original 1970's series, which was a family favourite; but I am loving the new version and find the actors in the latest version inhabit their roles perfectly.

Cheery son and I watched the new Frankenstein last week, I did not expect to enjoy it at all, but thought it was wonderful. I have never read the book, so am unsure whether it was a close adaptation, but we really enjoyed it. It was a tit for tat watch, I watched Frankenstein (his pick), and the next day we watched Freakier Friday (my pick), we gave both films a thumbs up!

We watched The Wild Robot last night. I knew the animation would be beautiful, but I wasn’t prepared for how emotional the story would be. It’s sort of WALL-E meets the Ugly Duckling. Rather lovely.
  • I'm told that Stranger Things is worth watching and youngest Rogueling has just started her first job and says she will get a subscription with her first pay cheque (her words - I don't think she has ever seen a cheque in her life). Is it worth a go?

I'm currently enjoying Traitors NZ - 'tho the laird of the castle reminds me of Dame Edna! 😆

Watched Man on the Inside, Season II, over the past week. Ted Danson goes under cover to determine who is trying to sabotage a major contribution to a small Liberal Arts College. Turns out the contribution is not what it appears to be. Various plot twists ensue. Light and funny. Netflix
