    In theory you don’t know how the pitch might break and presumably want to be prepared for all eventualities.

    And once they are there anyway it’s a case of giving your pace bowlers a break.

    What I mean is - wouldn't it have been a good idea to bowl Jacks more? It's not like the seamers were less expensive - they were more expensive!
  • At that point it probably became a case of 'but the ground isn't turning and if we overbowl him he'll be too tired to bat well and that's why we picked him'. The powers of going into a match with a somewhat vacilitating plan.
