That sounds excellent @Sojourner. We are hoping to go to Glenbrook in the middle of November to hear the Bach Akademie, who were here in Canberra few weeks ago and were excellent.
We have just had a brief trip to Sydney to visit mother-in-law (96). Seems much the same as before we went away. Possibly slightly less steady on her feet. She’s in residential care, so they’re keeping an eye on that. Short-term memory gone, but still able to ask sensible questions about the places that she had been to when we were showing her photos of our trip. We also finally managed to take a trip on Parramatta ferry on Monday, which was warm enough for that to be pleasant.
On Tuesday lunch was had at the cafe above Clovelly beach, which has just been refurbished.
Return from shopping was amazing - the bus and I arrived at the stop together. Someone got off and I got on. I looked down the bus and I was the sole passenger, which didn't surprise me because it was a good day for staying home.
Today I'm on duty for a couple of hours at the Community Library. I will make sure I get there early and turn the heaters on as my partner lives some distance away and comes by bus so is likely to be cold. Fortunately the building is new, a gift from the 2011 earthquake so has efficient heat pumps.
I'm very glad you didn't have to wait around too long getting chilled @Huia. I hope your community library stint has gone well. I guess in terms of the earthquake recovery, there has to be some upside somewhere and if people being able to be warm and comfortable with efficient heating, let's be glad of that.
I felt badly for you with your disappointing cake @Sojourner. I have been caught a few times at a cafe I frequent, which has nice coffee but the cakes are only average, which can be very disappointing when hoping for a quick treat!
Today has been a bit of a write off. I had a dreadful sleep so have spent a bit of the day having power naps. However, I have managed to get a couple of loads of washing done and collected Cheery son's girlfriend for a visit. They have just watched a short movie and are enjoying catching up. I must get her home before tiredness strikes and I'm no good to be on the road.
While they were glued to the TV I got myself outside and gave my pot plants a good drenching. I have done something to the hose in the front garden, so I'll need Cheery husband to help me with that at the weekend, but the back hose was fine and it's nice and long, so I just have to drag it around to the desired areas. All nicely dealt with and if I don't get back to the plants for another few days, all should be OK.
Sticky date pudding steaming on stovetop:#1 daughter & partner coming to dinner. Osso buco already made (2days ago) so just needs reheating. Will heat( ready cooked) gnocchi, bake some pumpkin & steam broccoli so no big drama ahead. Looking forward to seeing them both after a couple of months.
#2 daughter (UK dweller) is in Corfu for a few days with friends: we had a natter via Whatsapp and she sent me a pic of herself with one of the local cats; a little calico the very image of my Miss Lily. If she could bring the little madam back to Blighty she surely would!
