Mount Rushmore had briefly crossed my mind when thinking about defacing rocks.

In the UK, we have a number of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (46 of them, apparently). I'm familiar with several. The question that comes to mind is the extent to which any of them are natural. Most of them appear as they are today because of the long-term intervention of local inhabitants on the landscape, including through farming (and sheep-grazing). In other words, the word "natural" here implicitly includes the deliberate activity of human beings.

Here's a new one, I haven't seen an example but I like the idea.

Reverse graffiti, or "clean graffiti," is an environmental street art technique where artists clean patterns and images into grimy surfaces like pavements and walls, creating a contrast between the cleaned and uncleaned areas to form a visible design.

I've seen that done - I think slogans are painted onto pavements with bleach?

Isn't this what kids do writing "clean me" on the back of the school minibus?

Yes, but (hopefully) prettier. It can be quite effective if you do it with a power washer on grimy concrete, for example.
