Weird one today; I couldn't get in again this morning, so I went to the site in an "incognito" tab (whatever the hell that is) and did the puzzle (in 3), but it said it had lost my 172 streak. I was, as you might imagine, Very Cross. I went back in a few hours later, got in and did it again (I didn't remember the answer until after I'd played my usual starter word) and my streak seems to have come back.
If you go ‘incognito’ the site can’t see any cookies, including the one which helps it identify you and connect you with your streak. It treats you as a new, previously unidentified player.
